The PDI Profend X12048 Nasal Decolonization Kit is perfect for decolonizing a patient's nasal cavities in order to reduce Healthcare-associated Infections. Each swabstick is pre-saturated with 0.75 mL of 10% Povidone-Iodine, an affective antiseptic for eliminating S. aureus and MRSA. Povidone-Iodine has been shown to kill 99.7% of Staphylococcus aureus within 1 hour. With Povidone-Iodine, full efficacy is achieved faster than with antibiotics. The Decolonization Kit can be applied in as little as 60 seconds with both the left and right nostrils each getting swabbed twice for 15 seconds. A single patient pack can easily be incorporated into any infection prevention bundle. Each patient pack contains 4 pre-staturated swabs with an entire case containing a total of 48 patient packs. Each individual swab is initially housed inside of a protective tube. When ready to use, simply break the tube open and retrieve the swab.
